Digital Health Leadership

This is our flagship programme. The application window for Cohort 4 of the Digital Health Leadership programme has closed and applicants in England have now received their outcomes. Cohort 4 delegates will commence their learning in September 2021.

Cohort 4 of the Digital Health Leadership Programme, will be delivered by Imperial College London along with their partners The University of Edinburgh and HDR UK.

Watch this short video to find out why you should apply for the NHS Digital Academy’s Digital Health Leadership Programme.

The NHS Digital Academy was set up following a 2017 Secretary of State commitment and concept emerged from Making IT Work: Harnessing the Power of Health Information Technology to Improve Care in England (the Wachter review) and recommendations outlining the need to develop and invest in the capability and capacity of digital change leaders (including specifically CIOs and CCIOs).

This led to the inception of the flagship and initial learning programme, a Post Graduate Diploma in Digital Health Leadership which was commissioned for delivery by Imperial College London in partnership with the University of Edinburgh and Harvard Medical School. They have successfully provided a year-long, fully accredited programme where participants also have the option to continue onto a Master’s degree, subject to securing additional funding.

We are keen to keep learning. You can read our Evaluation Scoping Report from 2019 and we plan to commission a full impact evaluation on the Digital Health Leadership programme in 21/22 as Cohort 3 come to an end of their time on the programme. This will include understanding the retention, profession and impact of alumni to date.
