Since the launch of The Phillips Ives Nursing and Midwifery Review in May 2022, engagement activities have taken place to gather evidence that will inform the Review's findings and subsequent recommendations.

The Review involved people and communities through many activities, including:
- a launch event
- in person and virtual roundtables
- expert reference groups
- use of an online consultation platform
- 1:1 interviews conducted at the Digital Health Summer Schools
In addition, stakeholders were kept informed about the Review in the evidence gathering phase through:
- social media
- the Phillips Ives Review webpages on the NHS Digital Academy website
- various networking and speaker events used to promote the Review and the work being done
The figures below are a breakdown of each evidence gathering and engagement activity.
Evidence gathering
Launch event
The virtual launch event had a live attendance of 266 attendees. A recording of the webinar has been viewed 439 times on Health Education England's YouTube channel.
Roundtables
7 roundtables took place throughout July, August and September. 6 of these were virtual, and one took place in person at Digital Health Summer Schools. Each roundtable was 90 minutes long with discussions guided by questions from each panel. A total of 131 individuals attended the roundtables, both virtually and in person.
Expert Reference Groups (ERGs)
6 online ERGs took place during October and November, with participants invitied to attend due to their role or expertise in the ERG subject matter. A total of 94 people attended the 6 ERGs.
Questionnaires in lieu of ERGs
2 ERGs scheduled for November did not receive enough participants registering to attend, so were cancelled and surveys sent to capture views instead. A total of 21 individuals completed the 2 surveys.
Online engagement platform
The online engagement platform for the Review was open from July to October for individuals to contribute ideas, case studies and experiences as well as fill in the bench marking survey. The platform had a total of 3500 visitors, 240 of which were considered engaged as they undertook an activity. 75 individuals completed the survey, 155 individuals submitted a total of 369 ideas and 29 case studies were submitted to the platform.
Digital Health Summer Schools
Participation involved:
- a keynote address by the Review Chair and Chief Nursing Information Officer for England Dr Natasha Phillips
- the development of a qualitative rich picture covering the key issues associated with the 7 Review themes by an artist in residence across the 2 days
- 20 one-on-one filmed interviews with digital health colleagues to gather their thoughts on this area
- a roundtable on professionalism

Social media engagement
The main social media channels used for engagement were:
These combined had a total reach of 159,222 accounts with 566 shares, 1174 likes, 4340 video views and 2119 link clicks.

As of November 2022, there had been 3917 visits to The Phillips Ives Review webpages:
- 2294 of which were to the main landing page
- 962 visits on the 'About' page
- 102 to the 'How will the Review be conducted' page
- 303 to the 'Resources' page
- 152 to Natasha Phillips' blog
- 90 to the Question and Answer page
- 14 to the page 'Why is the Review necessary'

Several members of the Review team attended events (listed below) to showcase the work of the Review and inform stakeholders about the progress being made:

Next steps
Members of the Review team will be meeting with the Patient Advisory Forum and strategic and arms length bodies to share and socialist the Reviews recommendations. The final report will be published in 2023.
