Digital Skills Development Networks Towards Excellence in Digital Standards (TEDS): Raising the bar for NHS Digital Teams
The NHS digital workforce plays a vital role in delivering safe, effective, modern healthcare and the Towards Excellence in Digital Standards (TEDS) accreditation scheme is here to recognise and elevate that work.
The scheme is well embedded in the North West but is also gaining traction in other regions of England.
TEDS is a framework that helps organisations strengthen their digital services, invest in staff development, and celebrate outstanding achievement across digital, data and technology functions. Built around five core standards — Infrastructure, Personal Development, Professional Development, Workforce Planning and Leadership — the scheme provides a structured pathway for organisations to grow their digital maturity.
Accreditation is available at three levels, from demonstrating good practice through to achieving consistent, exemplary digital performance. Assessments are peer-led and based on straightforward sets of standards. They shine a spotlight on collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement — values essential to delivering high-quality healthcare in an increasingly digital world.
By taking part in TEDS, organisations gain independent recognition, clearer career development pathways for staff, stronger digital leadership, and a culture where learning and excellence thrive. It’s also a powerful way to showcase the professionalism and impact of digital teams who are often working behind the scenes to keep services running smoothly.
Whether you’re looking to benchmark your progress, drive transformation, or celebrate the achievements of your digital workforce, TEDS provides the roadmap.
