The Digital Academy and Lloyds Pharmacy Online Doctor recently held an online digital healthcare education day for undergraduate medical, health and life science students.

The day introduced students to the concept of digital healthcare, how digital is currently being used in the NHS and an overview of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the health and care system. Sessions were delivered by Dr Hatim Abdulhussein, National Clinical Lead for AI and Digital Medical Workforce in NHS England's Workforce, Training and Education Directorate, as well as senior colleagues from Lloyds Pharmacy Online Doctor

In addition, students listened to a presentation by Matthew Barker, an Engineering Graduate and Researcher working in AI and Machine Learning (ML). Matthew shared how AI and machine learning are being used by clinicians.

Students then had the chance to spend time in small groups discussing an issue currently facing the NHS, and find solutions to fix some of these issues using digital health, AI or machine learning.

You can watch recordings from the 4 morning sessions:

The day was well received by the students, with many requesting that similar sessions are put on in the future.
